Hello and welcome to my 2016-17 Fusion Page!
I am extremely excited to be back at North for my fourth year of teaching! I earned my teaching certification for Grades 1-8 from Cardinal Stritch University in January of 2014 and then began teaching 7th and 8th Grade Language Arts at North shortly after (when I say shortly after, I mean the following week!). This will be my third year teaching 6th grade Language Arts. I am thrilled to again work with 6th grade students and help them discover their potential as readers and writers!
I truly believe that all students can learn and I will do my best to ensure our classroom is a community where all students feel safe and comfortable. I am excited to use all that I have learned in order to reach students of all learning styles, and I will work to do so in ways that are meaningful and fun! We will dive right into writer's workshop, an excellent way for students of all writing levels to grow and improve as writers.
Educational and Professional Background
The world of teaching is a second career for me. I received my Bachelor of Arts from UWM in 2008. I double majored in Advertising/Public Relations and Sociology. Upon graduation, I accepted a management position at The Springs Water Park in Pewaukee. I held that position for about five years and had the wonderful opportunity to become a lifeguard instructor. It was then when I discovered my passion for teaching others! I enrolled at Cardinal Stritch University in the Master of Arts in Teaching program to get my post-baccalaureate certification and here I am today. I love reading and writing and am thrilled to be able to share that excitement with my students!
